Blood Bowl players enjoying a friendly game at The Goblins Nook Southampton

Friday Night Fumbles with Blood Bowl

Welcome sports fans to the FUNDER ZONE

Since The Goblin’s Nook opened Blood Bowl has been at the heart of things, cultivating a friendly community of players keen to engage in the mutual madness that is “BB”. Every other Friday night the clamour of cheers and jeers ring out over the clatter of dice and the occasional maiming of a goblin.

What is Blood Bowl?

Essentially, it’s a mix of Warhammer and American Football with a healthy dose of humour mixed in. It's well established game (First Ed 1986), now it’s 3rd season since it’s relaunch back in 2016. For those of us of a certain vintage it’s a legendary game but it’s managed to stay fresh and attract new players. It’s also one of the few examples of a board game making the transition to video games with rules in tact and being a success.  Although when the dice hate you in a video game it feels rigged. Sitting opposite another goblin and rolling them will prove they do indeed hate you but your among friends.

What the game has in spades, is charm.  The miniatures are beautiful but also are a lot more tongue in cheek than their warhammer fantasy cousins. Orcs, Goblins, Dwarves,  Men and Elves are all present of course but there are also Gnomes with their woodland friends and snotlings (pump wagon and all) as well as Halflings.

Interested?

If that's got BB curious or if you are a veteran of the "Bootifal Game" (as the Orcs call it) then come get stuck in!
