NOBB League Rules

Nook Open Blood Bowl League, Season 1

7 fortnightly rounds, a Christmas break, then a top 4 playoff with the final on Tuesday 16 February. Every round you get one opponent and two weeks to play them. League night is every other Tuesday here at The Goblins Nook, but you can play any time in your round.

Pairings, rosters, results and standings all live on Tourplay under NOBB | Nook Open Blood Bowl League. League games are played at normal table hire.

Season schedule

Each round closes at 6pm on a Friday and the next round's pairings go up that Friday evening, giving you the weekend to sort your game for the Tuesday league night. Round 1 is the only exception, with pairings up on Monday 12 October.

Your team

We play Blood Bowl: The Official Rules, Third Season Edition, plus Games Workshop's free Star Player downloads from Warhammer Community. Nothing from older books or Death Zone.

  • Build your starting roster using the league team creation rules in the Third Season book.
  • Submit your roster on Tourplay before your round 1 game.
  • One team per coach for the season. Once your first game is played, your roster only changes through the normal league rules (post game sequence, hiring, firing, injuries).
  • Models should clearly be the position they're playing. Proxies are fine as long as your opponent can tell who's who at a glance.
  • All skills gained during the season must be clearly marked on the model, using a skill band, a coloured elastic band or some kind of base marking system.
  • Painted teams aren't required, but they are very much encouraged. We'll be shouting about the best looking teams through the season.

Playing your match

Pairings go up on Tourplay on Friday evening, once the previous round has closed. Round 1 is random; after that Tourplay pairs coaches on similar records, and you won't play the same opponent twice in the regular season.

  1. Check Tourplay for your opponent on Friday evening when pairings go up.
  2. Sort a time with them over the weekend. League night on the Tuesday is the default; if that doesn't work, book a table on our website any time in the round.
  3. If you can't get hold of your opponent within a few days, let the shop know before the round closes.
  4. Play the game and do the post game sequence together at the table, so you both agree on SPP, injuries and winnings.

What to bring: your team, your printed or digital roster, and your own dice if you like using them. We have some pitches, block dice and templates at the shop, but we're still building up our Blood Bowl kit, so if you've got a spare pitch, dice or templates, please bring them along on league nights.

Results and standings

Record everything on Tourplay. Results, SPP, injuries, purchases and roster changes all go on there, so your team and the standings are always up to date.

The winning coach (or either coach, for a draw) enters the result on Tourplay within 48 hours, and no later than 6pm on the Friday the round closes. The other coach confirms it. Enter touchdowns and casualties for both sides, as they're used for tiebreaks.

Win 3 points · Draw 1 point · Loss 0 points

If coaches are level on points, ties are split in this order: head to head result, then touchdown difference, then casualty difference, then most touchdowns scored.

Playoffs and prizes

The top 4 after round 7 go through to the playoffs. Semi finals are 1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd, played between 29 January and 12 February. The final is played on league night, Tuesday 16 February, and the winner is the first NOBB champion. Teams carry their progression into the playoffs as normal.

Prizes and side awards (most touchdowns, most casualties, best painted team) will be announced before round 3.

Missed games, dropping out and conduct

Missed games. If a game isn't played by the time the round closes and one coach clearly tried to play and the other didn't, that's a 2 to 0 win for the coach who tried. If neither did, both take a loss.

Dropping out. Life happens. Let the shop know as early as you can. Coaches who drop out, or rack up two missed games, are removed from the league and their remaining opponents get the win.

Conduct. This is a friendly league open to new and experienced coaches alike. Be a good sport, help newer coaches with the rules, and keep the trash talk on the pitch.

Disputes. Check the book together first. If you're still stuck, roll off for it and carry on.
